Enterprising striker Bhumika Mane slammed in four goals, including a hat-trick, in leading Companeroes Sports Club to a convincing 6-0 win against a young spirited Footie First FC in a Women’s Open quarter-final match of the Catholic Gymkhana Rink Football Tournament 2019, played under floodlights at the Catholic Gymkhana’s artificial turf, Marine Drive on Monday evening. The tournament is being conducted under the auspices of the MDFA. The fleet-footed Bhumika was quick to pounce on every opportunity and did well to score three quick to complete a first-half hat-trick and give her team a 3-0 half-time cushion. Bhumika struck one more goal in the second period while her teammate Durga Mhatre chipped in with two goals to round off the winning tally and progress to the penultimate round. Earlier, defending champions Bodyline FC started on a winning note as they got the better of Future Stars Pink in another quarter-final encounter. Bodyline scored through Ark D’Silva in the first half and then defended well to come out winners and seal their place in the semi-finals.
